Overview
Context
Gloria Stella Ristorante is a personal exploration project. I wanted to translate a meaningful childhood experience into a brand system and imagine what it would look like if my family had owned a restaurant.
The idea was to capture the feeling of growing up surrounded by Italian traditions, shared meals, and long conversations around the table. This project became a way to explore how memory and emotion can shape a cohesive and intentional visual identity.
Challenge
The Need
There was no existing brand. This project started from curiosity and nostalgia. I wanted to see if I could turn personal memories into something structured and believable.
The challenge was to design a system that felt elegant and rooted in history, while still carrying warmth and joy. It needed to reflect tradition without feeling rigid, and emotion without losing clarity.

Solution
Approach + Execution
The core concept centred around “golden times” — those in-between moments when people gather simply to enjoy being together. I drew inspiration from Italian Art Deco of the 1930s, the era when my grandmother and her siblings were born. The name Gloria Stella, inspired by my great aunt born in 1938, anchors the brand in family heritage and tradition.
Visually, the identity is built on geometric Art Deco forms with a subtle playful twist. Blue and gold lead the palette, referencing classic Italian associations and the depth of azzurro tones. The system includes a primary logo, short guidelines, and foundational applications such as posters, menu layouts, business cards, a landing page, and exterior signage. Even as a passion project, the focus was on building a coherent and adaptable visual system.
Outcome
Result + Reflection
What started as a personal exploration became something deeply meaningful. When I shared the project with my family, they believed it could be real. They saw themselves reflected in it.
This project reminded me that branding can hold memory, identity, and culture. When emotion is translated with structure and intention, it becomes something others can recognise and connect with.
